Dr. Fischer, Providing Thoughtful Pet Care in Washington, DC

Meet Kristen Fischer, VMD

Dr. Kristen Fischer has always been driven by a captivation with biology and a deep love for animals. Since beginning her career in 2002, she has found that her favorite part of veterinary medicine is the relationships she builds with pets and the people who love them. She also enjoys the puzzle-solving aspect of her work, piecing together information from an animal’s history, physical exam, and diagnostics to uncover the best path forward. Dr. Fischer thrives on the diversity of general practice and the teaching aspect of her role, ensuring every client feels empowered and informed.

“I relish being witness to the bond between an owner and their pet.” -Dr. Fischer

When she is not at the hospital, Dr. Fischer stays busy tending to her family and her two teenage boys. She and her husband also just celebrated twenty years of marriage in April 2026! Her love for animals follows her home, where she enjoys tending to her chickens, snuggling on the couch with her dogs, and bonding with her parrot over trick training. To help satisfy what she jokingly calls a "Vitamin C deficiency" (for cats), she fosters kittens whenever time permits. She also finds balance through simple pleasures like gardening, reading, and lounging at the beach.

She went on to obtain her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. While there, she pursued her passion for healthcare for all species as a member and president of the One Health Club.
